NET METERING
Self-Production of energy has evolved into a necessity and the good news is that it is now an affordable necessityThe use of Renewable Energy Sources is considered a feasible solution for the reduction of the electricity bills that directly affects us, as well as, for the reduction of the energy footprint on the environment. In this way, RES can become an impenetrable barrier in climate change. Keep in mind that at the moment, photovoltaic systems is the most economical and clean form of energy production. Solar panels installed on the roof of our building or in an adjacent area (field/building) absorb solar radiation and produce electricity, which can either be consumed directly by our house, fed into the grid, or stored on batteries , which are interfered in the installation.
IMPORTANT UPDATE: Net-Metering program had been valid for all applicants that completed their application until 15-5-2024. The new reality in self-consumption is net-billing, except farmers (limit – 30kW) and socially vulnerable populations, who can still apply for net-metering.
The vast majority of you have heard of Net-Metering! But what do we mean by this term that is so widespread nowadays?By using the term Net Metering we define Self-Production with Energy Compensation. In other words, there is an offsetting between the energy injected and the energy consumed by the grid. The energy produced by the PV system, in case of Net-Metering, is either consumed directly as it is produced, or fed into the grid for later use. In other words, the grid is essentially used for energy storage. Energy compensation practically means that the grid returns us the kWh we’ve injected in it without taking money into consideration, and finally the bill that we get concerns the additional kWh we consumed, if that happened. During planning, the main purpose is that the construction of a Photovoltaic System eliminates the electricity bills. This, of course, requires that the necessary roof surface is available.

Our main goal as DEGERHELLAS is to offer affordable solutions for our clients (whether it is a private person or a business) with quality becoming the key point for every part of the process. A Net Metering system requires special attention during the phases of planning and installation so that it can generate high revenues in combination with a great lifespan, and at the same time be safe for the people.
We strongly recommend filling out the Solar system contact form below and then we will contact you as soon as possible, by offering a corresponding solution that will meet your own household needs.
- The energy analysis, taking into account the consumer’s energy profile (just send us a year’s worth of utility bills)
- Study and design of the system taking into account all the construction elements of the building (the orientation, the pitch of the roof and possible shadows from neighboring structures)
- Techno-economic analysis in which payback time of the investment is also taken into account
- Licensing procedures from DEDDIE
- System construction
- System maintenance
In addition, it is useful for you to know that today’s data shows that payback time of such a system is set at approximately 5-6 years for residential PV systems and 3-4 years for business PV systems. Of course, everything depends on the complexity of the project. At this point, we must emphasize that the lifespan of a photovoltaic system is 20-25 years, while its repayment is completed in just ¼ of that time!
Rooftop solar systems significantly reduce if not eliminate the electricity bill, while they become more attractive when included in subsidy programs, and that’s where things are getting better, as the political and economic situation, although negative in a wider context, in this case made the development of green energy projects attractive.
As we mentioned before, the cost of fossil fuels and natural gas has turned the use of green energy into a necessity!
Astradigital was founded in 2005 by the mechanical engineer of the National Technical University, Mr. Stelios Foroulis.
The two companies have been working closely together for a decade.
Regarding the installation of photovoltaic systems, Astradigital is active in the design of green solutions in residential, commercial and industrial buildings. It is also specialized in the maintenance of low and medium voltage solar installations.
Over the last seven years, this company has undertaken more than fifty installations of solar systems and constructions of photovoltaic parks in Greece, using state-of-the-art equipment and working closely with leading suppliers in the PV sector such as DegerHellas.
Following the trends of the energy market, which leans towards self-production systems with energy Offset (net-metering), Astradigital has focused on the study and installation of such systems in collaboration with DegerHellas.
